Pastor Edgar Galdámez has preached to us three times now, over the last several months, so we trust that most of you have had an opportunity to introduce yourself and welcome him to Montage. His wife Patricia and daughter Leah have also joined us a couple times. They have three adult children.
Pastor Galdámez was born in El Salvador and came to the US with his mother and several siblings in 1981, as the civil war was starting. He was saved in 1983 during an evangelistic meeting at a church in Santa Ana, California. He became involved in the life and ministry of the church—teaching home Bible studies, teaching youth Sunday school, being part of the worship team, doing evangelism, discipleship, and preaching, and eventually becoming an elder of the church. Edgar completed a diploma in theology in 1989 and then an AA through a local community college. During this period Edgar and Patricia met at church and were married.
In 1993, they relocated to Phoenix for Edgar to complete a BS in Biblical Studies at Arizona Christian University (formerly Southwestern College). Then they returned to California, where Edgar completed a Master of Divinity at Gateway Seminary in 1998. Over the subsequent years he participated in a church plant, taught in public and private schools for twelve years, served for a year as a youth pastor, and served at a church as an adult Sunday School teacher and elder.
In 2015, Edgar was called to plant a Spanish speaking campus as a part of Grace Community Church in Tyler, TX, and served there for seven years as a bridge between two cultures and two languages, inside and outside the church. This campus within a campus grew to about 120 people, with over ten Latin American nationalities. Since then he served briefly at a church in Oklahoma, and he has now been at Canyon Hills for the past eighteen months, primarily ministering to the Hispanic community within the church.
Edgar desires to serve as a pastor in a church engaged in proclaiming the Gospel of Christ and committed to making disciples of all ethnicities. He appreciates that Montage shares this multicultural vision.
In his application, he offered the following ministry goals:
